You ever heard someone say, “you can get your worst sunburn on a cloudy day”?
Yea, I always thought it was a stupid saying. I enjoy the heat of the sun. I use to be a sun-worshipper. I would spend hours baking in the sun. I would get disappointed if it was a cloudy day. I was not about to waste my time laying out when the sun wasn’t in full force.
One time I was helping my Grandaddy mow his yard. He lives on a farm so it’s a lot to mow. I was bummed the clouds were out. My Grandaddy warned me to wear my long steeves and sunscreen because I would get burned. Yea right. I didn’t listen and by golly, I got burnt. It was not a bad burn but it was there.
The other day, I was getting ready to leave town for my Mawmaw’s funeral. I can’t leave town with a dirty house so naturally I was cleaning the dishes. Rocky gave me a solar powered dachshund that looks like our dog, Rowdy, a couple years ago. We keep him out year-round above our kitchen sink and he dances from the sunlight. It was completely overcast but there it was…that little “Rowdy” dog had the gentlest of movement. He was barely moving side to side but he was dancing.
Even though I could not see the sun, it was still shining. The rays were penetrating through the clouds. I have not noticed our dancing Rowdy dog much but it was very noticeable that day. He shouldn’t have been dancing yet he was.
There may be times when we can’t feel God moving. Our days are full of dark clouds. Sure, it’s easy to feel God’s blessings when the sun is shining bright but HE is working. It may not be noticeable now but months…maybe even years later we will notice that tan line. We will have the slightest little dance.
Besides, what is more impressive…a tan on a sunny day or a tan from a cloudy day? Rest assured my friend, God is working.
