There is power when we proclaim the name of Jesus.
I can not tell you how many times I have gotten lost in my emotions this week. Twice was right as I was fixin’ to head to Church…hmmmm. My mind was racing as Bible Study was about to start. I sat there in my seat and under my breath said, “Jesus”. I silently prayed. The only words I knew to say was, “Jesus”. The next hour all my distractions went away.
Then this morning, Raelyn woke up in a great mood…that was until I told her it was time to get ready for Church. She wanted to finish her cartoon. Then she didn’t like the dress she loved so much just the other day. Today it was “yucky”. I yelled at her and she screamed louder.
Not only am I fighting a 3 year old but changing the 11 month old’s diaper is a battle in it’s self. Imagine trying to change a crocodile that uses his whole body to death roll and kill his prey: That’s Browder.
Now I have 2 kids screaming and we need to leave in 5 minutes. I am ready to march in and “give her something to cry about”. Then a song popped into mind. I sang aloud , “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus; there’s just something about that name. Master, Savior, Jesus, like the fragrance after the rain;”. Next thing I knew, both kids were calm. Peace, be still.
7 minutes later we were out the door as Raelyn was hugging me saying how much she loved her dress. Yes, the same dress that was “yucky” just 8 minutes before…toddlers.
Phillipians 2: 9-11 says, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”
Let me repeat that. Every knee should bow at the NAME of Jesus. Not at his voice, which He did calm the storm with just His voice (Mark 4: 35-41) but at His NAME. How powerful is that?!
If He can calm the storm, if He can command the demons then He can take control of my me by just the sound of His name. I am going to make a point to speak the name of Jesus. Everyday.
There’s just something about that name. Jesus.
