I’m a Spoiled Brat

I’m a spoiled brat.

While getting Raelyn’s lunch together for tomorrow I decided to take a look at the list of items our Church is gathering to get ready to send Children for Christmas. I’m a little irritated because I have this lingering headache that I get on days that I have to go into the office.

We are required to wear a mask for the full 8 hours. It’s annoying. My glasses fog. I can’t breath and I always get a headache on those days. I try not to complain because I still have a job. Not many International Travel Agents can still say that. As I’m reading this list, I realize that if wearing a mask is my biggest worry of the day then I’m doing just fine.

There are people in this world without running water, without shelter, without food and so on. I’m contemplating whether to give my daughter grape or strawberry and crunchy or creamy on wheat or white while irritated over wearing a mask.

These kids just want socks or crayons. I can’t tell you how many socks I’ve thrown away because I’m too lazy to find it’s missing pair. I’ve thrown away more broken crayons in the last month because I’ll just go buy more. I’m a spoiled little brat.

We’re mad because schools are opening up or we’re mad because schools are not opening up. There are kids who would just love to be able to learn. We can publicly speak the name of Jesus without real persecution. We have dust on our Bibles and there are people willing to give their life for their Bible. We are spoiled little brats.

My life verse is “Rejoice always, pray continuously and in ALL things give thanks for this is the WILL OF GOD in Christ Jesus” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

Did you catch that? For this is the will of God. How often do we pray and ask God for His will? His will is right there! He told us! Plain as day.

It’s pretty fitting that this is the verse we are focusing on in Bible Study this week. I have a huge sign in our living room with this verse. People seem to be more rude than ever right now. People arguing over every little thing. Taking their frustrations out on the workers who have no control over the policies. All while having the luxury to do so in our homes with running water or in a huge supermarket with overpriced bottles of water.

I am going to thank and praise God that all I have to worry about today is having to wear a mask.
